Don’t settle for a run-of-the-mill date. Here are some unusual date ideas
that will get your hearts racing.
High Society – The View from the Shard is a two-level deck (one partially open to the elements) on floors 68 to 72 of the instantly iconic London building, the Shard. Zip up in a super-fast lift to classical music and relish 360-degree views across the capital and up to 40 miles away from 800 feet up, nearly twice the height of any other London viewing point. Totally stunning, but check that your date doesn’t suffer from vertigo first.
Diving In – This one requires a little research. Find out whether your date loves the water and would like to do the PADI course. Then head to the London Scuba purpose-built premises to enjoy some lessons together. Great fun as one of our unusual date ideas in itself, but if you get on famously you could ultimately end up trying out your new skills together in the Seychelles.
Animal Magic – A trip to ZSL London Zoo might not seem that daring but it is one of those unusual date ideas that most people really love. The trick is not to try and do the entire zoo, just personal highlights. Steal a kiss by the penguins, gush over the majesty of the Asian lions and be thrilled and a little scared by the creepy crawlies.
Flying High – If you are feeling flush and want to show your date a truly unforgettable time, how about taking them on a London Helicopter Tour? These amazing 35-minute rides involve the pilot taking guests over astonishing panoramic views which include flying along the Thames, seeing the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, St Paul’s Cathedral, Trafalgar Square and much more. An amazing, very special date.
Climb an Icon – Enjoy unforgettable views of the capital as you climb the roof of the O2. This exhilarating 90 minute climb and descent is one of the most unusual date ideas London has to offer, and for as little as £25 (even less with an O2 discount if you’re a customer) this unique experience won’t break the bank.
