La Rambla is a huge automobile free area in the center of Barcelona filled with all sorts of kiosks and shops selling local trinkets and curiosities. Not only is it an awesome way to spend an afternoon walking around and immersing yourself in Barcelona’s culture, but you are also supporting local merchants with any purchases you may make. Absolutely free to wander and explore as well.
Casa Camper
Need a place to crash or just to check out as an example of what can be done when a business has their heart in the right place? Enter Casa Camper. Casa Camper claims they are the first hotel to be powered completely by solar panels as well offering recycled water in every room. Covered in Eco-friendly and green signs inside there’s no way this gem could not make your spirits rise. Even if you don’t stay, stop by and say hello!
Parc de la Ciutadella
A huge 75 acre green park packed with lots of fun things to do. Parc de la Ciutadella is one of the most beautiful things to see in Barcelona for nature lovers and the lake is brilliant on a hot day to cool off too. There’s plenty of opportunity to see local wildlife and if you’d like you can even visit the local government’s headquarters which is even located within Ciutadella. If that’s not a clear sign Barcelona loves nature, nothing is!
Shop for and Buy Eco-Style Gear
If you’re into your shopping you certainly have many great Eco-friendly choices in Barcelona. Check out the shops offering traditional shoes made of hemp and other natural vegetable fibers. There’s almost too much praise we can give to Gracia. A beautiful neighbourhood in Barcelona renowned for its love of all things green, Gracia’s energy and people exude a warmth and friendliness synonymous with the Catalonian capital. This may end up the highlight of your whole trip, but let’s just say it’s certainly the place to indulge in a great vegetarian or vegan meal. Many of the highest rated Spanish restaurants in the country are located here so dig in.
